I have seriously tried every planer out there. I’ve done the basic cheapies from Target, some SUPER spendy huge planners, and almost every digital one out there. I’ve learned this, though I am a paper planner girl. I love making lists and being able to cross things off. Heck, I even add things to my lists that are already done, just to be able to cross them off. Don’t laugh, you know you do it too!
This past Fall I was looking for that perfect planner to organize everything. I needed a system for this next year if I was going to be able to do it all. Four kids, multiple business, running several non-profits for my kids’ school/activities, and managing my debt payoff plan. I need it all to be in ONE place.
Enter Erin Condren.
Who ? Did she tell me which planner to try ? Nope. In fact, while I had heard of her planners, I had never actually seen one before. That is until that fateful day at Staples. I had gone looking for something else, along with wanting to see what they carried for planners. We don’t have a Staples close by us, so I had never looked there before. I went up and down every aisle, looking at all of the kids of planners, but nothing jumped out at me.
Then, there it was. The display of Erin Condren Life Planners. Holy crap! Have you guys seen these things? No seriously! Have you ? They are beautiful, but more importantly totally customizable and functional. You can do EVERYTHING with this baby! I won’t lie, the print I have was not my first choice. I am a whites, silvers, and light colors kind of gal. This bold pattern was not my first choice. However, the inside was. This bad boy has a vertical layout with three separate sections for each day of the week! There is also the option of a horizontal or hourly layout, whichever works best for you. I had never seen such a thing before!
Now you can set yours up however you like. I personally have issues, and have to color code things. Each member of our family has their own color. This way I don’t have to write out the whole event. For example, if I have “scouts 6:30” in pink, I know Alexa has girl scouts. Blue is Tyler, etc. This saves room and clears up clutter on the pages.
I use the top section for things I personally need to get done in a day. Errands, dinner prep, etc. I like to list things vertically in “Bullet” form for easier reading. (I told you I have issues)
The middle section of this planner tells me who has to be where that evening on the very bottom, and then the rest of that section is for my work/blog specific things that I want to accomplish that afternoon while kids are napping, or later in the evenings.
The bottom section, get this.. I use it for our menu! I write B, L, D vertically (for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, but you already figured that part out. You’re no dummy!) Once I have my meals planned on my printable, I write them all in my planner. That way if I am out for a meeting, etc., I know what needs to be made at home, or can call home and tell someone what to start.
The planner has a monthly Calendar as well at the start of each month section. I use this for an at a glance for all areas of life. I can quickly look and see who has what in the evenings, what kids may be coming for daycare, bills that need to be paid on any given day, even when I am expecting payments. The start of each month has a tabbed page with an inspirational quote, and a lined page next to it for lists, plans, etc.
There are several blank “note” pages in the back for ideas, birthday lists, etc. Ooh! And the stickers! There are stickers for labeling Dr. appts, game day, and blank ones that you can write in your own events.
♥I am so in love with this planner!♥
