It’s been a while since I posted! I’ve missed you all. The last couple months have been crazy busy with planning the carnival at my kids’ school, and I needed to step away for a bit to focus on that. I’m back though, and have a new Friday feature “Friday Five – Five Things We’re Loving Right Now”. Each Friday I am going to share with all of you what our family is loving this week.
1.This past weekend we were finally able to get up to our camper. This is our weekend happy place in the warmer months, and we haven’t had time to make it up yet. So we loved being able to get away, spend some time as a family in the woods, and just together! It was finally warm, so we all soaked up the sun, and even got some swimming in. We got to relax, and even got mulch down so that’s one less thing we will have to tackle next time we are there.
2. My oldest daughter Alexa has always been an avid reader. She went through a little period for a few months, where I couldn’t get her to pick up a book to save my life. So I am loving that the found a new series of books that she is obsessed with! The James Patterson, “Maximum Ride” Series is honestly not something I would have ever thought she would be into. However, she read book one in under two days! I’ve had to take them away and hide them at bedtime, or she will be up all night reading. Not a bad problem to have! I am so excited for her to be back to her love of reading.
3. Spring/Summer Produce season is upon us! We could not be happier to have an endless supply of berries, melon, and other produce that is not always found or very good in the winter months. In fact, we have been eating so much of it, that I am having to go to the store several times a week. This is fine with me, as I love that there are not many fruits or vegetables that my kids won’t eat.
4. One on one evening walks are back this past week! It’s been raining a lot here in Minnesota this week. However, I have been trying to get in a walk each evening before dinner. I make a point to take one of our kids with me each evening. This gives that child and I a chance to connect, talk about their day, how things are at school, and just make them feel special for that time alone.
Along with the walks, my 7 (almost 8) year old twins Logan and Ella used some of their Christmas money to buy these fitness trackers. They were super inexpensive, and honestly do just about everything my own FitBit Alta HR does! We have all been having contests each day to see who can get the most steps. This has been a great incentive for me to move more, and the kids are getting more active too! I can’t recommend this tracker enough.
5. Last, we have been really trying hard to eat clean as a family these past few months. One of the treats I’ve been making the kids are ice pops made with Greek yogurt and fruit. These FoodWorks Silicone Ice Pop Molds are a huge hit here. Rather than buy the sugary Go-Gurts, I can mix up plain Greek yogurt, a little real maple syrup or stevia, and chopped fruit. I put it in these molds and freeze. They love these in their lunches, or for a snack after school!
There they are! Just a few of the things that our family is loving right now. This coming weekend is full of birthday parties, and scout activities. I can’t wait to share more of what we are loving with you next week. Tell me though, what is your family loving right now?
